West Ham were predictably beaten at Old Trafford this afternoon as normal away service was resumed.
First half goals from the far-from-prolific duo of Danny Welbeck and Adnan Januzaj gave the reigning Premier league champions a comfortable half time lead before Ashley Young increased the Mancunians' advantage with 18 minutes of time remaining. But United did at least grab a consolation goal through Carlton Cole, who had only been on the field for ten minutes having replaced Matt Jarvis.
Adrian San Miguel del Castillo made his Premier League debut for the Hammers after being named in Sam Allardyce's starting XI following an impressive performance against Tottenham in Wednesday's night's 2-1 Capital One Cup quarter final win.
He ws one of several changes to the team that won at White Hart Lane in midweek with James Tomkins, Guy Demel, Mark Noble, Ravel Morrison and Mo Diame all restored to the starting line-up - which also includes another of Wednesday night's heroes, Matt Taylor.
