Premier League
West Ham United 0-0 Manchester United

West Ham missed an opportunity to give themselves a genuine chance of a top half finish at the Olympic Stadium tonight as Manchester Utd guaranteed runners-up spot in the Premier League.

A goalless draw did neither side any harm in their respective battles, even if supporters of both sides will have been left feeling rather underwhelmed by the level of entertainment on offer in this dull end-of-season affair.

That a semi-assault by Mark Noble on Paul Pogba in the closing moments of the match was responsible for the biggest crowd response of the evening says much about a game in which both sides appeared happy to take a share of the spoils.

However West Ham still had Adrian to thank for making three top-class saves in the opening half to ensure the Hammers remained on level terms at the break - including one instinctive stop with his right boot to deny the visitors.

The point consolidates West Ham's 15th position in the table, but the close proximity of surrounding teams means that David Moyes' side can still finish the season anywhere between 10th - worth ??22million in prize money - and 17th (??8million).
