West Ham's diminishing hopes of securing European qualification for a fourth successive seasons suffered a major blow this afternoon as the Hammers were held to a draw by Liverpool.
Despite taking a first half lead through Jarrod Bowen, the visitors turned the game around with two goals in the opening 20 minutes of the second period. However the Hammers were not to leave empty handed thanks to Michail Antonio's equaliser 13 minutes from the end of normal time.
With David Moyes unable to call upon the services of either Nayef Aguerd or Konstantonis Mavropanos, the Hammers went into the game with Kurt Zouma and veteran Angelo Ogbonna at centre half.
However the return of Jarrod Bowen and Kalvin Phillips ensured the manager had a full strength squad to call upon elsewhere.
And it was the former who opened the scoring just two minutes ahead of the half time interval with his 16th Premier League goal of the campaign - thus equalling the record set by Paolo Di Canio two decades earlier.
From a corner, Mohammed Kudus found the head of Bowen, who steered his effort beyond Alisson to send the Hammers into the interval with a narrow advantage.
But the lead was to last for just three second half minutes before Robertson squeezed an effort beyond the returning Alphonse Areola, who replaced Lukasz Fabianski in the starting XI.
Following a sustained spell of pressure the visitors took the lead for the first time in the game when Gakpo's shot, which came from a corner, deflected off both Ogbonna and Tomas Soucek before beating the unfortunate Areola - who was credited with an own goal.
Yet the Hammers refused to lie down and accept defeat and with 77 minutes on the clock, Antonio steered a header beyond Alisson after being found by Bowen, who had cut in from the right before delivering his cross to the striker.
