Julen Lopetegu's West Ham were humiliated for a second time in three months by Liverpool, conceding five at home for the second time in the last calendar month.

On the final day of November, it was Arsenal who left east London with three points having bagged five goals in a rout at the London Olympic Stadium.

And tonight it was Liverpool's turn to pile more misery on under-pressure Head Coach Julen Lopetegui, as they took their tally to the season against the Hammers to TEN - with one more meeting still to come at Anfield in April.

West Ham, who managed to look semi respectable in the opening 25 minutes or so were level until the half hour mark, when Luis Diaz opened the scoring for the visitors. That lead was doubled shortly after Mo Kudus hit the woodwork with an effort from outside the penalty area when Cody Gapko made it 2-0 when converting an incisive Mo Salah pass.

In the final minute of the first half Salah added a third by beating Alphonse Areola at his near post - an effort the French 'keeper should've done better with - to send Liverpool into the break with a substantial three-goal advantage.

Unfortunately for West Ham, it was to get even worse after the half time interval and more tinkering from Lopetegui. A fourth Liverpool goal arrived nine minutes after the restart when Alexander-Arnold's deflected effort left Areola flat-footed and unbale to prevent the effort from hitting the back of the net.

Prior to the final goal of the game arriving, Kudus - supplied by a lovely delivery from substitute Andy Irving - hit the crossbar with a free header that the Ghanaian should've got on target, at least. The current league leaders responded by adding a fith and final goal through Jota, who was left with a simple chance after some impressive work from Salah in the build-up.

There was still time for the Hammers to hit the woodwork for a third time with the last meaningful attack of the game via a deflected effort; the seventh and final shot of the afternoon, not one of which was on target.

The defeat leaves West Ham in 13th place in the Premier League - with a trip to Manchester City, who won their second game in 12 outings against Leicester City this afternoon up next.
