Callum Wilson's added-on time winner has breathed new life into West Ham United's battle against the drop.
A fortnight ago many Hammers fans had convinced themselves that relegation was a certainty, following the home defeat against Nottingham Forest. And while there is still plenty of work left to do, with 16 Premier League matches left to play the gap between the two teams is now just four points - a position that is far from insurmountable.
West Ham were simply magnificent in the opening period in N17 this afternoon, while Tottenham were extremely fortunate to enter the interval only one goal behind - that coming from Crysencio Summerville, whose deflected effort on the quarter-hour mark left goalkeeper Vicario with no chance.
The second was a different story however as the Hammers struggled to replicate their first half form and it was no surprise when Cristian Romero levelled with a head on 64 minutes.
But with the game drifting towards a draw, wantaway Wilson - who had been on the pitch for less than 90 seconds having replaced the industrious Taty Castellanos - popped up to convert a corner following yet more indecision in the Spurs defence.
Next up for the Hammers is Sunderland nest weekend.
Player Ratings
Alphonse AreolaNot an awful lot to do for much of the game, but made a couple of vital saves when the scores were deadlocked.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Not so prominent going forward but worked hard to minimise opportunities for Spurs.

Ollie Scarles
Barely put a foot wrong, a fantastic performance from the Academy graduate who also notched an assist for the winning goal.

Konstantinos Mavropanos
An excellent performance from Dinos - and not an error of note to note.

Jean-Clair Todibo
Outstanding in the centre of defence alongside the equally efficient Mavropanos. Their best performance together.

Mateus Fernandes
Grafted throughout, an excellent shift.

Tomas Soucek
Worked his socks off for 90 minutes and fully justified his re-inclusion in the starting XI.

Crysencio Summerville
Frightened the pants off Tottenham's rickety and unreliable defence, a real force when driving at Spurs' rearguard. Rewarded for his efforts with a second consecutive goal.

Pablo Felipe
While the quality may be yet to come to the fore, Pablo's work rate is unquestionable. Worked tirelessly in the opposite half of the field, closing down and harrying Tottenham's defence when in possession.

Taty Castellanos
Like his fellow newcomer Pablo, Castellanos gave 100 per cent effort if, once again, the end result might've been better. But it is of course still early days and he's still learning how to play with his new colleagues.

Jarrod Bowen
Once again the end product is not quite up to last season's standards, the weight of captaincy possibly having an effect. But there is never any question of a lack of effort.

Substitutes
Guido Rodriguez(Pablo '79) The right man for the job to close the game out. Solid if unspectacular.

Callum Wilson
(Castellanos '90+1) Thrown on for the final few minutes and scored what could yet be a season-saving winning goal in injury time. The perfect cameo.

Max Kilman
(Fernandes '90+6) A time-wasting substitute for the final few moments.

Mads Hermansen
Did not play.

Kyle Walker-Peters
Did not play.

Ezra Mayers
Did not play.

Igor Julio

Mohamadou Kante
