West Ham United 1-2 Liverpool
Wednesday, 26th April 2006
by East Stand Martin
Now that was a lineup to make the mouth water of any Irons fan worth his salt. I was bleary-eyed with nostalgia. To name a few of my personal favourites: Sir Trevor Brooking, Paul Allen, Digger Barnes, Ken Brown, Curbs, Mervyn Day, Devo, Paul Goddard, Georgie Parris, Pat Holland, Billy Jennings, Kevin Keen, Alvin Martin, Phil Parkes, Geoff Pike, Pottsy, Stuart Slater, Alan Taylor, Steve Walford. Legends the lot of ‘em and all united in tribute prior to the game for Johnny Lyall after his untimely death last week.

Player Ratings
Jimmy WalkerFirst goal was at his near post and the second through his legs. He'll be dissapointed.

Anton Ferdinand
Oddly he was better in attack than defense tonight. Very shaky against Cisse but went on one of the runs of the season in the second half.

Lionel Scaloni
Very good tonight I thought. Worked incredibly hard and made some good tackles.

Elliott Ward
Not a bad performance.

James Collins
Stood off the Liverpool players too much

Hayden Mullins
Wasn't his best game; devastated to be red carded (as was I).

Nigel Reo-Coker
Excellent. Deserved the goal; a fantastic performance.

Yossi Benayoun
Dangerous throughout but his first touch in the first half was poor.

Matthew Etherington
Top-notch in the second-half of this season, and superb again tonight.

Teddy Sheringham
Some great touches and a wonderful pass to set up Reo's goal.

Bobby Zamora
Very good performance, linked up well with Sheringham.

Substitutes
Carl Fletcher(Replaced Collins, 45) Battled well.
