Traore began his club career with Barcelona, whom he joined in 2004 at the age of eight. He went on to appear mainly for the reserves, making only one start for the first team.
In 2015, he signed for Aston Villa in a ??7 million switch and a year later Middlesbrough, before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers for ??18million in August 2018.
Traore played 201 games for Wolves, scoring 14 times including a last-minute winner against West Ham at the London Olympic Stadium,, and was loaned back to Barcelona in 2022 before joining Fulham a year-and-a-half later.
One 28 January 2026 he was confirmed as Nuno Santo's third attacking signing of the winter transfer window, moving from Fulham on a short-term contract with the option of a two-year extension in the event that West Ham manage to avoid relegation to the Championship.
