Signed: 23rd Aug 2022 (£12,600,000)
Contract: 4 years + 1 year option
Previous Club: Chelsea
KUMB Awards: None.
vs FK TSC Backa Topola
3-1: Thursday, 21st September(Played 45 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Cresswell, 46) Didn't really seem to get flying like he has domestically.
vs Luton Town
2-1: Friday, 1st September(Played 90 minutes)
Couldn't get into the game going forward, stayed secure in a controlled defensive performance, until the sloppy ending.
vs Brighton & Hove Albion
3-1: Saturday, 26th August(Played 90 minutes)
Emerson gets what some might call harsher judgement on these pages, but he was excellent today. A season coming in and out of the team last year seems to have bedded in more of the Moyes basics, whilst his ability in attack, and just carrying out of defence, has added another dimension to West Ham's play. It was things like the headers at the back post and the discipline in defence that get him most credit today, even if he was unlucky not to score.
vs Bournemouth
1-1: Saturday, 12th August(Played 90 minutes)
Involved in the final third to good effect, defensively sound.
vs Boreham Wood
4-1: Monday, 10th July(Played 45 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Zouma, 45) No match comments.
vs Fiorentina
2-1: Wednesday, 7th June(Played 90 minutes)
Many have called Emerson their Man of the Match, but the defending on the Fiorentina equaliser was a very sore point on otherwise strong display. With the time to judge it, and an opponent who didn't have any advantage winning the ball, the lack of real challenge was awful.
vs Leicester City
1-2: Sunday, 28th May(Played 19 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Cresswell 71) He certainly came on.
vs Leeds United
3-1: Sunday, 21st May(Played 90 minutes)
Offered a good option on the overlap, as he does in most games he plays, and he recovered very well to shut the door on Gnonto, having let him in.
vs AZ Alkmaar
1-0: Thursday, 18th MayDid not play.
vs Brentford
0-2: Sunday, 14th May(Played 90 minutes)
Just offered nothing.
vs AZ Alkmaar
2-1: Thursday, 11th MayDid not play.
vs Manchester United
1-0: Sunday, 7th May(Replaced Cresswell, 90+8) Almost certainly didn't touch the ball!
vs Newcastle United
1-5: Wednesday, 5th April(Played 90 minutes)
Just went around making silly fouls. Wasn't helped by Benrahma not bothering.
vs Southampton
1-0: Sunday, 2nd April(Played 90 minutes)
Some great marauding runs down the left. Almost everything good Benrahma did came from Emerson overlapping and being ambitious on the channel. After the goal, he seemed the only one who knew his side was better than their opponents.
vs Aston Villa
1-1: Sunday, 12th March(Played 90 minutes)
Struggled with Traore, but did a good job on Bailey. Didn't really have the impact going forward he'd have liked, but it bodes well that he can have a solid game on the back foot.
vs Brighton & Hove Albion
0-4: Saturday, 4th March(Played 90 minutes)
Made one or two good runs forward, defended reasonably well and made one goal-saving intervention right in front of goal as Ferguson looked to knock it into an empty net.
vs Tottenham Hotspur
0-2: Sunday, 19th February(Played 90 minutes)
No idea where he was when Royal walked through and scored, offered nothing going forward, although as covered, the players are not really to blame.
vs Chelsea
1-1: Saturday, 11th February(Played 90 minutes)
It's him or Coufal for man of the match. The run was a perfect example of what you need your opposite wing back to do when the other side is providing the cross. He ghosted in and gambled well, getting his reward. Good one-vs-one defending was also a welcome sight, as well as a wicked delivery for the offside goal.
vs Everton
2-0: Saturday, 21st January(Played 90 minutes)
Given the wing-role, with that little extra layer of protection, he came into the side and made a compelling case that he shouldn?EUR(TM)t leave it. The crossing was better, the overlapping opened up the flanks more and offered a threat, whilst his pace made him useful in transition going either way.
vs Wolves
0-1: Saturday, 14th JanuaryDid not play.
vs Arsenal
1-3: Monday, 26th DecemberDid not play.
vs Leicester City
0-2: Saturday, 12th NovemberDid not play.
vs Crystal Palace
1-2: Sunday, 6th NovemberDid not play.
vs Manchester United
0-1: Sunday, 30th OctoberDid not play.
vs Silkeborg
1-0: Thursday, 27th October(Played 90 minutes)
His pass and direct running make a good contrast, but he did feel on the periphery here.
vs Liverpool
0-1: Wednesday, 19th OctoberDid not play.
vs Southampton
1-1: Sunday, 16th October(Played 90 minutes)
Sacrificed to change the system, rather than because of a poor performance. Faded in the second half, a relatively average performance that had good moments.
vs Anderlecht
2-1: Thursday, 13th October(Played 90 minutes)
Threatened on the ball with his speed and movement, got a good assist and looked confident.
vs Fulham
3-1: Sunday, 9th October(Played 7 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Paqueta 83) Did what was required in his cameo.
vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
2-0: Saturday, 1st October(Played 16 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Paqueta 74) Another one who had a good cameo. Came on with direct running and used his pace well.
vs Everton
0-1: Sunday, 18th September(Replaced Cresswell 90?EUR(TM)) n/a
vs Silkeborg
3-2: Thursday, 15th September(Played 90 minutes)
Energetic, but not incisive enough going forward, and a quite sloppy defender.
vs FCSB
3-1: Thursday, 8th September(Played 90 minutes)
Sloppy defensive play, and that is reflected by the fact he's scored and still got a 5. Could have been punished more than he was, and those big chances were his side.
vs Chelsea
1-2: Saturday, 3rd September(Played 90 minutes)
Defended well, with some fire, too. And made a darting run forward that will have caught the eyes of many. Part of a solid backline, but didn't stand out himself.
vs Tottenham Hotspur
1-1: Wednesday, 31st August(Played 5 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Fornals 85) Got forward well, and didn?EUR(TM)t suddenly make us more defensive by replacing Fornals. But that mix-up...
vs Aston Villa
1-0: Sunday, 28th August(Played 45 minutes)
Didn't do anything wrong, but didn't really do anything right. Kept the ball quite well, yet offered little in attack. Like Johnson, he was a victim of a system that didn't work.
