vs Boreham Wood
4-1: Monday, 10th July(Played 45 minutes)
No match comments.
vs AEK Larnaca
4-0: Thursday, 16th March(Played 90 minutes)
A good game for Scamacca, not only because he got a goal. He looked to fit in with a side that had more attacking, forward-thinking players on the pitch than usual, with Bowen and Fornals working hard to make good runs when Scamacca dropped in to get the ball. His goalscoring instinct and desire makes him dangerous, and someone who can threaten from outside the box like him will get West Ham goals just from rebounds.
vs AEK Larnaca
2-0: Thursday, 9th March(Played 60 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Antonio 60) A quiet and uninspired performance. Looked slow and immobile for the large part.
vs Manchester United
1-3: Wednesday, 1st March(Played 4 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Antonio 86) Came on as the world burned around him. Offered basically nothing.
vs Wolves
0-1: Saturday, 14th January(Played 15 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Fornals 75) It makes sense that he didn?EUR(TM)t start, what with his latest niggle, and he looked better than Antonio. Should start next weekend.
vs Leeds United
2-2: Wednesday, 4th January(Played 90 minutes)
Pretty quiet, a few flicks aside, and then absolutely clinical when it fell to him.
vs Leicester City
0-2: Saturday, 12th November(Played 90 minutes)
From the outside, he looks frustrated and demotivated. He has admitted this week that he has found the speed and size of Premier League defenders a surprise, but that didn't look a problem early on. Today he was the final piece that couldn't be found, the chances all dropping for other players. Whilst Fornals, Paqueta, Bowen and Benrahma all produced two key passes each, Scamacca had none. He didn't look a player who would score or create anything.
vs Crystal Palace
1-2: Sunday, 6th November(Played 90 minutes)
Scamacca was relatively pointless. It wasn?EUR(TM)t all his fault, but he was also awful within what he could do.
vs Manchester United
0-1: Sunday, 30th October(Played 90 minutes)
Didn't get into it well, but also didn't get the runners off him. Having Downes there isn't going to help Scamacca.
vs AFC Bournemouth
2-0: Monday, 24th October(Played 90 minutes)
Some nice touches and passing, but didn't threaten goal enough. Worked hard, just not falling for him today.
vs Liverpool
0-1: Wednesday, 19th October(Played 90 minutes)
It was a 4 before that shot after Antonio had done so well, but that tipped it over the edge. Looked disinterested, and whilst hat solo role can be frustrating when against these ?EUR~bigger?EUR(TM) teams, West Ham actually got into the final third often, but Scamacca?EUR(TM)s movement was beyond poor.
vs Southampton
1-1: Sunday, 16th October(Played 90 minutes)
Another game where he could have come away with a hat-trick, but his all-round play was good, he carried a threat even when the team wasn?EUR(TM)t at their best, and clearly scares defenders.
vs Anderlecht
2-1: Thursday, 13th October(Replaced Bowen 63) Could have done better with Fornals' cross and just didn't fit into the game West Ham had been playing before he came on.
vs Fulham
3-1: Sunday, 9th October(Played 90 minutes)
What a good finish. He maybe should have scored more, but there is a lot to be said for how clever his positioning and movement is, and how well he is linking with players around him.
vs RSC Anderlecht
1-0: Thursday, 6th October(Played 21 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Antonio 69) Set up a big chance and scored the winner with a clinical finish.
vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
2-0: Saturday, 1st October(Played 90 minutes)
An interesting contrast was offered when Antonio came on, and you can see the questions in Moyes's mind. Scamacca is clearly the more gifted technical footballer, and he was brilliant with the ball at his feet today. The goal was well taken, he'd been a nice part of our better moves and the pass to Bowen in the move for his goal was a delight.
vs Everton
0-1: Sunday, 18th September(Played 20 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Antonio 70) Anonymous cameo. Just looked angry and a bit lost.
vs Silkeborg
3-2: Thursday, 15th September(Played 90 minutes)
Subdued but took his goal well, and the team missed his presence when he went off. The ball came back more.
vs FCSB
3-1: Thursday, 8th September(Played 90 minutes)
Missed big chances, and they were very presentable chances.
vs Aston Villa
1-0: Sunday, 28th August(Played 65 minutes)
He played quite well without being hugely effective, a little let down by the way the 10 ten players behind him were playing. Quick feet, was strong and made good runs. He isn't Antonio, and their differences are stark, but it's not really that one is better, they just do things differently and offer different ways to attack.
vs Viborg FF
3-0: Thursday, 25th August(Played 90 minutes)
There is a bit of class about him when he drops in and gets on the ball. Some lovely long passes, little neat lay-offs and another good "striker's goal".
vs Brighton & Hove Albion
0-2: Sunday, 21st August(Played 28 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Fornals 62) Couldn't really get into it, although he does have the look of a classy player when he gets the ball. Selfless knock down for Soucek created an opening.
vs Viborg FF
3-1: Thursday, 18th August(Played 67 minutes)
Took his goal well and his movement was good. Eager, mobile and happy to dart out wide as well, and Cornet was happy to move into the space he left.
vs Nottingham Forest
0-1: Sunday, 14th August(Played 22 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Antonio 68) One glimpse of something, and his idea to chest the ball down in the area to a teammate was probably the right one, but quiet. The creative verve was gone once Fornals went off, which limited service to the striker.
vs Manchester City
0-2: Sunday, 7th August(Played 34 minutes, sub)
(Replaced Antonio 56) His cameo gave hope to many, the Italian putting himself about and looking eager to impress. Forced a very good save with a header, even though it was ruled offside. There?EUR(TM)s something there, and people were excited just to see him.
