Capped more than 20 times by Greece before moving to east London, the Athens-born defender arrived in east London via PAS Giannina (his home town club), Arsenal and Stuttgart.

Once booed by his own fans, he will likely now hold a place in their hearts forever, just for the bravery he's shown since. And especially today, getting in front of anything he could, to whatever detriment, and not putting a foot wrong. The new Craig Dawson is a fitting moniker.

The Greek defender is the pick for doing the basics, which says a lot about this team as he hasn't improved them. Mitchell's goal was fantastic, but Mavropanos simply has to do better with his header.
