Born in Odense, Denmark, Hermansen began his youth career at N??sby. As a ten-year-old, he transitioned from being an outfield player into a goalkeeper after suffering from achilles tendinitis.
In September 2015, Hermansen joined Danish Superliga side Brondby. He was promoted to the first team prior to the start of the 2019/20 campaign.
In December 2022, Hermansen received the club's Player of the Year award after putting in strong performances through the year. Seven months later, in July 2023, Hermansen signed a five-year contract with Championship club Leicester City.
Three years after moving to England Hermansen was courted by Hammers Head Coach Graham Potter, whose coaching staff were familiar with the stopper from their time together in Denmark.
And he completed a ??16million switch to West Ham on 9 August 2025, agreeing a deal that tied him to the Hammers until 2030, where he effectively replaced the out-of-contract Lukasz Fabianski.

Two goals he can look at and maybe take the blame for. The first is a loose pass that is made by a player not focusing on his task, whilst the second is just poor goalkeeping, a shot through his legs that travels some 15-20 yards.

A couple good saves, he generally kicked well, and was off his line fast to intercept balls over the top, and to be a passing option for defenders struggling on the ball.

Looked nervy in moments, and then commanded well in others. A sloppy save of a shot well wide gifted Palace a corner when his side were shaking, and the goal would never have had the chance to even make it to Mateta's handball if the goalkeeper had come and claimed a ball that should have unquestionably been his.

Looked incredibly shaky on early corners, and whilst he improved a little, it was a simple save that he spilled to Watkins.

He can be a little disappointed with the goal, maybe, but there is no way he should have been setting himself for what happened, and it just fluked its way to a perfect spot. He responded with some great saves, and showed how a bit of extra security by holding shots and claiming crosses can make things much easier for the defence.

Two absolutely magnificent saves kept the clean sheet intact and ensured West Ham could take all three points home. Looked more assured on crosses than Areola ever has, but it's the dramatic saves that some people have questioned whether he can make. Here was proof.

Came for a couple crosses well and clearly kicks better than Areola. Caught out by an incredible finish by Sesko that he never could have read.

Not wholly convincing, but that is two clean sheets for West Ham this season, and both are Hermansen's. The goalkeeper looked eager to make his presence known on crosses, and whilst it didn't look completely natural, he should gain confidence and any improvement here could make a big difference to a defence that struggles with crosses.

The late save was very good goalkeeping, but the weakness on corners is emanating from him and his lack of command. It isn't just him, but teams are firing corners at him now, as if they know how easily it could lead to a goal. In the end, the protection of the centre took so much focus that nobody watched the back post.
