Roberto made just a handful of appearances for West Ham before he was sent out on loan to Spanish side Alaves in January 2020 for the remainder of the 2019/20 season.

Upon returning to West Ham he was an unused substitute for the pre-season trip to Ipswich Town before being allowed to join Real Valladolid on a free transfer, a year into his two-year contract signed in 2018.
