Call up for Hammers duo

West Ham's Andy Melville and Carl Fletcher have been called up to the Welsh squad to face England and Poland next month.

Melville - a veteran of 65 international appearances - and Fletcher - a relative newcomer with just four caps - are in contention to face England on October 9th and Poland at the Millennium Stadium four days later.

And with news that Robbie Savage's appeal against his dismissal in the recent Northern Ireland qualifier has been upheld, Fletcher's chances of making a start in at least one of the two games will have improved greatly (Savage is still eligible to face the Poles).

And with England boss Sven Goran Erikkson certain to include the likes of Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, Jermain Defoe, David James, Rio Ferdinand and Glen Johnson in his squad, that game inparticular will have a distinct West Ham feel to it.
