Today's Sun newspaper is reporting that Alan Pardew could be out of a job as early as next week.

An article in today's (Friday) edition claims that Pardew could be sacked should the Hammers lose Sunday's televised encounter with Derby County at Upton Park.

Rumours over Pardew's future have been gathering pace in recent weeks, and it has been intimated on several occasions already this season that a run of poor results would result in his departure from Upton Park.

The former Reading manager is yet to oversee three consecutive wins this season, and has done so only once since taking over from Trevor Brooking 15 months ago. It is that lack of consistency that has led to increased calls for his replacement.

West Ham have been linked with several managers in recent weeks including David Pleat, George Burley and current fans favourite Gordan Strachan.

Should the rumours overs Pardew's future prove to be correct he would become the club's second shortest serving manager behind Lou Macari, who left Upton Park in 1990 - less than a season after replacing the long-serving John Lyall.
