No trouble for Trent

West Ham full-back trent McClenahan has successfully led his Young Socceroos side to success in their World Cup qualifying final.

McClenahan captained Australia to a 3-0 win over the Solomon Islands in Honiara, 48 hours after the Socceroos had reached the final by beating Fiji 3-2 thanks to a last minute winning goal.

However the final - watched by some 22,000 supporters - was marred by crowd violence, and the game was abandoned by New Zealand referee Peter O'Leary with 10 minutes of normal time remaining after several hundred supporters unable to gain entry to the stadium began hurling missiles over the stadium walls and on to the pitch.

But despite the violence the Oceania Football Confederation ruled that the result should stand, and as a result Australia - including captain McClenahan - will represent the federation at the under-20 World Cup Finals which will be held in Holland later this year.

Australia's win came courtesy of goals from Goals from Mark Bridge, Vince Lia and David Williams. Vanuatu took third place after beating Fiji 4-1 in the play-off.
