Upson out, Green ignored (again)

Matthew Upson has withdrawn from the England squad set to face France in Paris this week.

The 28-year-old centre-half was selected for Fabio Capello's second England squad after playing the full 90 minutes against Switzerland last month.

But he has been forced to pull out of the squad having failed to recover from the calf injury sustained at Anfield earlier this month.

Meanwhile Rob Green appears to have fallen even further down the national pecking order after once again being overlooked by Capello.

A space in the squad was made available after Aston Villa's Scott Carson was forced to withdraw. However Capello decided to ignore Green - who had another excellent game at Everton yesterday - in favour of Tottenham's Paul Robinson, who has spent much of the year on the bench after being dropped by his club side.
