Redknapp: there's more on the way

Hammers boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed that the money generated from the sale of Paulo Wanchope to Manchester City will be used to strengthen the squad.

Wanchope's move to Manchester City remains in the balance, with the striker still yet to put pen to paper despite a fee being agreed between the two clubs. But Redknapp is ready to move into the transfer market yet again once the deal goes through.

He said today: "I would like to make more signings; we still need cover in all areas. We will be holding onto the rest of the squad and are hoping to add to it soon."

Harry also expressed his regret over the departure of Wanchope, when he added: "I didn't want Paulo to leave but we had to sell when we received such a good offer."

It has been a busy summer at the Boleyn so far; four players have come into the club - Nigel Winterburn, Freddy Kanoute, Davor Suker and Hayden Foxe - for a combined total of just £3.75m, whilst Neil Ruddock (£600,000), Marc Vivien Foe (£6.5m) and Paulo Wanchope (£4.5m) have gone the other way.
