Hammers boss Harry Redknapp is keeping tabs on the Rushden & Diamonds left back who gave Trevor Sinclair a run for his money in the pre-season friendly on Wednesday night.

Paul Underwood, 27, was singled out for praise by Redknapp after an impressive performance on the night, which saw the former Enfield and Carshalton player pitched against Trevor Sinclair.

Redknapp spoke to Underwood for almost an hour after the game, and will be keeping tabs on the full back for the next few games with a view to a permanent contract should Underwood continue to impress.

Underwood joined the Griggs empire in 1997, and has made 145 appearances for the club scoring 13 times in the process. He has also won a semi-professional international cap since he joined the conference outfit.
