Lomas injury doubt

Filed: Monday, 14th August 2000
By: Matthew O'Greel

Hammers midfielder Steve Lomas is doubtful for Saturday's Premiership curtain raiser at Stamford Bridge.

Lomas is suffering from tendonitis (swelling of the tendons) and is touch and go for the weekends clash at Stamford Bridge.

He has already pulled out of Northern Ireland's friendly with Yugoslavia on Wednesday, and is now hoping that the inflammation has disappeared by Saturday.

Lomas joins a growing list of casualties ahead of the Chelsea game; Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Stuart Pearce are also all battling to recover from injury.
