Middlesbrough winger Gary O'Neil is on his way to West Ham, according to reports.

The former England under-21 captain is said to be set to sign for the Hammers, with the Championship club having accepted an offer from United.

O'Neil, 27, began his pro career at Portsmouth where he made his debut as a 16-year-old.

After eight years with the south coast club he moved to Middlesbrough in August 2007 in a deal worth around £5million, where he has proved a success on the right side of midfield (occasionally playing centrally).

According to reports, Neil has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Hammers.

In other news, Valon Behrami is thought to be on the verge of signing for Fiorentina in a €4.5million (or £3.8m) switch.
