Mixed day for Hammers

West Ham are back down to 19th place in the Premier League this evening following an afternoon of mixed results.

With 41 goals scored in the league's eight fixtures so far today there was no shortage of action across the country.

In terms of the relegation battle, Blackpool - who are currently dropping like a stone having lost seven of their last eight games - threw away a 3-2 lead against Everton at Goodison Park, eventually going down 5-3.

And there was further good news for those of a claret and blue bent from the City of Manchester stadium, where a hat-trick from former Hammer Carlos Tevez condemned West Brom to a 3-0 defeat.

Sadly the news from the DW Stadium wasn't so good, with Wigan hanging on for a frantic, final few minutes to beat near neighbours Blackburn 4-3 - a result that lifts the Latics above West Ham.

Meanwhile Manchester United - unbeaten in the Premier League for ten months - went down 2-1 at Wolves in today's evening kick-off, a result that draws the Wanderers level on points with West Ham (although they remain bottom by virtue of an inferior goals scored record).

As it stands: the bottom of the Premier League tonight

15 Blackpool 25-28 (-11)
16 West Bromwich Albion 25-26 (-17)
17 Wigan Athletic 26-26 (-18)
---------------------------------------------------
18 Birmingham City 23-24 (-10)
19 West Ham United 25-24 (-17)
20 Wolves 25-24 (-17)
