Hammers duo in England squad

Robert Green and Scott Parker have been called up to Fabio Capello's latest England squad.

The duo - both of whom are considered likely to leave east London before the end of the month - have become the first Hammers to receive an England call-up whilst in the second tier since David James played in England's 3-2 defeat at home to Denmark in November 2003.

England face Holland in a friendly at Wembley on Wednesday evening with the two included in a 25-man squad.

Their inclusion in the squad made a mockery of David Gold's claims earlier in the summer that to retain the services of Green, Parker and striker Carlton Cole would harm their international chances.

"It's unrealistic to ask an England player to come down and play in the Championship. We've got to be realistic," Gold said back in May.

"It's unfair to say to a player we want you to forego your potential England career to come and play in the Championship. I think we - and the fans - have to be realistic... It really is just not fair to ask a player to stay."

Full England squad
