The opposition view: Aldershot Town

Understandably 'over the moon' with the victory secured courtesy of Danny Hylton's last-minute winner at the Boleyn last night, 'Shots fans were full of praise for their team's efforts...

"It's impossible to put into words what happened tonight. We were brilliant, second-half especially. The best half of football I've ever seen the Shots play. First half was even, Stanislas took his goal fantastically. The way we took the bit by the teeth after West Ham were reduced to 10 was fantastic. The West Ham fans seemed to be quite gracious in defeat, and I saw so many people in red shirts smiling. It's one of the best nights of my life."

"I'm speechless. Mostly because it feels like I ripped my voicebox to shreds screaming in celebration. The only way I can describe it, is it's up there with the Torquay game. The passion, the desire. Everything. We really wanted that victory. I'm bouncing off the walls and I have work in less than seven hours, not that I could care less."

I don't know what game Allardyce was watching when he said they were in complete control. A more cynical team would have been 3-1 up at half time. A lot of teams like us that got these First Round shocks went one or two-nil up. It takes a lot of heart and skill to win from behind against a much better team - but we did that."

"Just got home. What a night of football. Congratulations to the Shots for a magnificent display. I haven't seen them play as a unit for a very long time. I only hope that Aldershot Town FC ban that fan that tried to get on the pitch when we scored. There is always someone thast spoils it for the rest of the fans."

"From Collier Row to Upton Park- some journey! Just thinking how far we have come, the countless highs and some heartbreaking near-misses, and could have only dreamed of being in our current position when we were trailing two-nil against Clapton in our first game as a reformed club in Diadora Division 3. Lets enjoy this!"

"So much of that match was the Shots bossing things, Second half, West Ham hardly had a look in. Deserved winners and it was nice to have some gracious comments from a few Hammers fans on the long walk back to the car."
- Norwich Nick

"Even this five-mile queue for the tube is worth it. Might be sleeping with the tramps at Waterloo, but who cares. Well done to everyone who came to make this one of the best nights ever."
- Brooklands Shot

"Yes they only had ten men, but they have the quality to still be dangerous even with a man down. Second half we were amazing, we controlled the game the whole half. I'm so proud of the boys tonight, it's like birthday, Christmas, New Year and Easter all rolled into one. I've never been this happy!"
- Chris Woods

"The way the Shots fans were treated tonight was a disgrace. There were still people entering the away end 20 minutes after the kick off and the stewards did not have a clue. They simply were not prepared for the numbers that arrived. The facilities in the away end, considering they were a Premier League club last year, were appalling."

"A magnificent display tonight. They thoroughly deserved the win. I'm sure the red card helped but even at 11 v 11 we were more than holding our own. Glory nights don't come along all that often, this one is to be savoured."
