Deadline day: Hammers look to 'African striker'

West Ham are reported to be chasing an unnamed, Spanish-based African striker as the transfer deadline draws ever nearer.

With just 12 hours remaining before the transfer window closes until January, West Ham are still in the market for a striker to supplement main target man Andy Carroll.

And accoring to BBC sports writer Oluwashina Okeleji, the Hammers have now turned their attention to Spain and an un-named African striker.

Elsewhere this morning, Peter Odemwingie has been given permission by West Brom to discuss a contract with Swansea after the two clubs agreed terms.

Should the Welsh club sign Odemwingie, Italian striker Fabio Quagliarella - who is reported to be in the UK today and was linked with a move to the Hawthorns this morning - could yet make the move to east London.

However KUMB.com understands that, despite reports to the contrary, West Ham's interest is minimal.
