Zarate unhappy with team performance

Mauro Zarate may have been delighted with his first goal at the Boleyn Ground - but was less than complimentary about his team's efforts on the night.

The Argentine forward criticised West Ham's performance following last night's 2-2 Europa League draw against Astra Giurgiu.

When asked to comment on the result, Zarate replied: "It's pretty bad. We were playing really well and scored two goals but in the second half I think we had to play a little bit more, keep the ball, just pass and take our time. But that's football.

"it was good [to score] but it's really sad and not a good result for us."

And looking ahead to next week's second leg, the 28-year-old insisted that it'll take a far better performance from West Ham to secure passage to the competition's next stage.

"I think it will be a similar match," he added. "They will attack and we have to win.

"It'll be a good match for everyone but we have to do more. We have to work harder, we have to play a bit higher up the pitch - and we have to win."
