Maiga still a Hammer - for now

Modibo Maiga is set for imminent talks with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, with view to a permanent move.

The Middle East club jumped the gun last night when announcing via their official twitter feed that Maiga had signed a two-year contract as later in the evening, the Mali international - 28 next week - confirmed via a KUMB source that no contract had been signed.

Although Maiga has provisionally agreed to join Al Nassr, any deal depends upon personal terms being finalised. The striker is currently on his way to meet officials from the current Saudi Professional League champions, with view to completing the move that would end his three-year association with West Ham.

* Wishful thinking - how Al Nassr prematurely announced Maiga's capture last night (Monday).
