KUMB.com have teamed up with artist and life-long Hammers fan Kosmo Vinyl to bring you the opportunity to own one of his unique works.

This morning (Christmas Eve) an auction to win a one-off piece designed by Kosmo begins here on KUMB - with the entire proceeds from the sale going towards Grace's Place, as featured in last year's (ex) Rev's Christmas Message.

The work in question features West Ham United legend Trevor Brooking plus fellow luminaries Albert Einstein and Ian Dury, who Kosmo worked with extensively during the mid-to-late 1970s, alongside the words "Aint Half Been Some ... Clever Trevor' - an amalgamation of two of Dury's tracks.

Kosmo's one-off 'Clever Trevor' piece is up for auction

"'There Ain't Half Been Some Clever Bastards' is the b-side of Ian Dury & The Blockheads' only Number One 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick' and 'Clever Trevor' was one of the big ones from [debut album] 'New Boots and Panties'", Kosmo says. "Both were recorded and released during my time working with Ian.

"Growing up it was common knowledge that Trevor Brooking (no Sir back then) didn't, or wouldn't sign with West Ham until he completed his A-Levels, an achievement that at the time seemed beyond the reach of anyone I knew.

"Since starting 'Is Saitch Yer Daddy', I have always referred to Sir Trevor as 'clever Trevor' - although he is a very different kind of 'clever' to Ian's one. Being as Grace's Place is a library I wanted to somehow get a learning angle in on a West Ham related art piece - and Ian and Sir Trevor provided the ammo."

The inspirational 'Grace's Place' was created by Akosombo-based schoolteacher Grace Annancy, who set up the library to help local children develop their literacy skills. The proceeds from our auction will go towards the building of a school (on donated land) that will house the books, which have already been sent from the UK.
