O'Brien to join Nolan revolution?

Popular full back Joey O'Brien looks set to leave West Ham within the next few days - with two clubs fighting to land the former Irish international.

The 29-year-old defender has barely featured for West Ham this season having suffered from a string of injury problems in recent months.

However that has not dissuaded Sunderland, currently managed by former Hammers boss Sam Allardyce - nor League Two Orient, now under the control of Kevin Nolan from registering interest in O'Brien.

Sunderland thought last night that they had got their man - however KUMB understands that the Dublin-born defender has spurned Big Sam's advances and opted to remain in London, by joining former team mate Nolan at Brisbane Road instead.

Slaven Bilic confirmed this morning that O'Brien had regained full fitness and was expecting to train with the squad for the remainder of this week. "He has been through a lot of setbacks regarding his injuries," he said.

"I'm glad for him that he will join us. Hopefully he will be fit for the long term now."
