A difficult game against a very good team - Pellegrini

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini believes that West Ham will provide another stiff test when his side travel to London looking to avoid consecutive defeats against West Ham.

The City boss, speaking this morning ahead of tomorrow evening's clash admitted that his side will have to be at their best to beat the in-form Hammers - something they were unable to do in the previous encounter at the CoM stadium, which Slaven Bilic's side won 2-1 last September.

"We have a difficult game against a very good team," said Pellegrini. "They beat us at home earlier this season in a match [in which] I think we had 20 chances to score, but didn't.

"I hope we will go for the three points and that we demonstrate why we’re involved in the title [race]. In some games, especially away, we haven't been able to score so I hope tomorrow we will return, as we did against Watford, to scoring goals and winning."

Pellegrini also confirmed that he expects to be without five players for the trip to London, with Wilfried Bony, Aleksandar Kolarov, Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala and Samir Nasri all unlikely to be involved.

However he revealed that 30-year-old Brazilian international Fernandinho - whose last outing came against Everton a fortnight ago - will be available for selection once again.

"Fernandinho is fit, he’s worked with the squad for the last two games," said Pellegrini. "Mangala, Bony, Kolarov, Kompany and Nasri are out.

“Vincent is seeing different specialists to try to learn more about his injury. He will start working, I hope, next week, but we will see. Bony maybe has an injury which is longer than we supposed. I hope next Monday he will start working with the squad.

“Aleks has a muscle injury in his calf – not very big. I hope at the end of the next week he’ll be working with the squad."
