Dimitri Payet has been named in the Euro 16 'Team of the Tournament', as voted for by a UEFA selection panel.

West Ham United's mercurial midfielder is one of two French players to be included in the list which also features four Portuguese, three Germans - and two Welsh squad members.

Former Manchester United boss ALex Ferguson, one of the 13-strong selection panel told UEFA.com: ""After quite a bit of deliberation, the observers chose a team that features the best performing players from the best performing teams at Euro 2016.

"We have chosen dominant central defenders; full-backs who can defend and attack; deep-lying midfielders who can control the game and dynamic, flexible and creative attackers, all of whom have the ability to create and score goals.

"We believe that the selected XI represents the best of the competition."

Payet, who was substituted just 12 minutes into the second half of last night's final, which France lost 1-0 to Portugal in extra time - ended the tournament as joint second-highest goalscorer with three goals from his seven appearances.
