Slaven Bilic has confirmed that he expects attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini to be sidelined for around a month after he picked up a knock in an international friendly.

The 23-year-old Argentine sustained the knee injury during a pre-Olympics friendly against Colombia and, according to Bilic, is likely to be out of action until the beginning of September.

"He joined the Olympic national team, but in a friendly game against Colombia he got a kick on his knee and got injured," confirmed Bilic during his press conference this morning.

"It's not only a kick on his knee, to be fair. It's not a big, big injury, but he can't play for the next four or five weeks. I think he's going to miss the first three games of the season, which is not ideal but not that bad.

"So, we think he'll be back after the international break following the Manchester City game."

Lanzini - who excelled during his first season at the club in 2015/16 - is expected to miss tomorrow's Europa League second leg against NK Domzale plus the forthcoming Premier League fixtures with Chelsea, Bournemouth and (the aforementioned) Manchester City, on 28 August.
