Dimitri Payet will not be joining the rest of the West Ham's first team squad in Bucharest having been excused Europa League duty.

The French international, who was a losing finalist in the summer's Euro 16 tournament has played just 25 minutes for the Hammers since returning to England having taken a late pre-season break.

And KUMB has learned that he has not travelled to Romania for the Europa League play-off round first leg tie with Astra Giurgiu, who knocked West Ham out of the tournament last season.

Also absent from the touring party is new signing Arthur Masuaku, who made his debut at Stamford Bridge on Monday night. Additionally Havard Nodtveit, Sofiane Feghouli and the injured Andre Ayew have all failed to travel.

That means the likes of Marcus Browne, Ashley Fletcher and new signing Jonathan Calleri (pictured above) - all of whom flew to Bucharest this morning with the first team squad - have been granted the opportunity to impress instead.

West Ham face Astra in the first leg of the play-off this Thursday evening, with the return leg scheduled for the Olympic Stadium seven days later (Thursday, 25 August).

Team to face Astra Giurgiu (from): Darren Randolph, Adrian, Raphael Speigel; Reece Burke, Sam Byram, James Collins, Angelo Ogbonna, Reece Oxford, Winston Reid; Michail Antonio, Cheikhou Kouyate, Mark Noble, Pedro Obiang, Gokhan Tore; Marcus Browne, Jonathan Calleri, Andy Carroll, Ashley Fletcher, Enner Valencia.
