Exceedingly bad luck

West Ham's FA Cup tie with Manchester City will be the eighth occasion on which West Ham have been paired with a Premier League side in the last two years of domestic Cup competitions.

The Hammers were drawn out of the hat first in last night's so will host the Premier League title challengers at the Olympic Stadium next month. However it was yet further bad luck for Slaven Bilic and his side, who have been the victims of an extraordinarily tough sequence of draws in recent months.

Last year the Hammers pulled three Premier League teams out of the hat from just four draws - Everton, West Brom and eventual Premier League champions Leicester City - plus Championship outfit Bristol City. All were initially played away from home.

And this year the Hammers have fared equally poorly having been paired with Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester Utd, twice.

However ties with Wolves, Blackburn and Accrington Stanley - the only club outside the top two divisions to be drawn against West Ham domestically in the last two seasons - have given Bilic and his squad some respite.

The full list of the teams drawn to face West Ham in domestic Cup competitions in the last two years are as follows:
