Hammers boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed his interest in Aston Villa's. wantaway England defender Gareth Southgate - but not at the price Villa want.
Redknapp, who has been a long-term admirer of the Villa skipper finally confirmed his interest today."I could be interested in him at around £5m or £6m, but Villa are asking £10m which is way too high," he said. "However, we do need more defenders."
Southgate nearly moved to the capital earlier in the season when Chelsea made enquiries about his availability, although the move fell through. He has made no secret of his desire to seek a move away from Villa Park.
