Poyet finds new club

Former Hammer Diego Poyet has finally found himself a new club - in Argentina.

Poyet, the son of former Uruguay international Gus was signed by West Ham from Charlton in July 2014. However his contract at West Ham was annulled by mutual consent in August 2016, with Diego having barely featured for Slaven Bilic's first team.




Since then the former England youth international, who enjoys triple citizenship - Uruguayan, Spanish and English - has been searching for a club without finding a satisfactory arrangement. That was until this week, when he agreed to join Argentine Primera División side Godoy Cruz with whom hew is currently undergoing a medical.


The Mendoza-based club are currently in the lower third of the Primera League's 30-team table, having won just five of their 17 games thus far this seeason. Poyet made just ten appearances for West Ham during his two years at the club, including five in the qualifying stages of the Europa League.
