The axe falls

Hammers MD Paul Aldridge has revealed that French defender Sebastien Schemmel will be returning to France once his loan period expires.

Aldridge, speaking via the clubs official website earlier said:

"We won’t be keeping the loan players. Sebastien Schemmel is not seen by Harry as someone who could improve the squad for next season."

It also means the chop for the likes of Davor Suker, Kaba Diawara and Christian Basilla who have all failed to impress during their respective spells.

The clearout paves the way for a summer of transfer activity at the club. Harry Redknapp revealed earlier that he is looking to bring in at least three new players during the close season.

Explained Harry:

"I know I have to buy three players, and soon I will be off on a
round-the-world trip to look at as many as I can.

"We have too many free spirits in the team. There is great
talent in the squad, fantastic ability, but we don't have the ideal combination - and I'll have to be a magician to get it right. If we don't, we are in for another tough season.

"'Teams with real spending power are coming up - Blackburn, who have £40million, and Fulham, who have massive financial strength."
