Diafra Sakho looks certain to remain a West Ham player come the end of today's transfer window - despite having flown himself to France earlier this week in order to try and force a move to Rennes.

Sakho took the unusual step of travelling to France without permission from West Ham in order to agree terms with Rennes, who had not been given permission to discuss terms with the player.

David Gold reacted to the news by insisting last night that Sakho would be remaining at West Ham - which led to the 27-year-old failing to attend training this morning.

Crystal Palace are also understood to have made a £10million offer for the striker, whose contract expires at the end of the current season.

The striker is set for showdown talks with the club today over his future. An earlier meeting was postponed by Sakho in order that he may watch his agent Mark McKay's horse, Siege of Boston run at Chelmsford this lunchtime.
