A damp squib

West Ham United's summer transfer window ended with no movement either way on one of the quietest deadline days ever.

Despite rumours of players such as Andre Gomes and Kevin Mirallas potentially arriving at the club, the Hammers failed to make a single signing - with the last arrival being Sead Haksabanovic on 7 August.

And whilst Diafra Sakho had looked odds-on to depart, having flown himself to France in order to engineer a move to Rennes yesterday, he was told during a meeting with the club today that he would be forced to remain at the club for the final year of his contract.

In all, the Hammers made five signings during the summer transfer window - with 16 leaving the club.
