Slaven Bilic is understood to have been relieved of his position as manager of West Ham United.

The popular Croat is reported to have been given his marching orders immediately after United's 4-1 defeat at home to Liverpool - although the club have only just confirmed the news.

Bilic's dismissal was all but confirmed following Saturday's heavy defeat, which leaves West Ham in the relegation zone with more than a quarter of the season already played.

Speaking after the game on Saturday, the 49-year-old confessed that he believed his time was up. "The pressure mounts game by game and at this moment it is big," he told the BBC. "We will see what the club will do. The club is above everyone."

West Ham will hope to announce a replacement for Bilic during the international break, however it is unlikely to be former Everton and Sunderland boss David Moyes following a backlash by supporters.
