Gold's broken promise

A video has emerged of co-chairman David Gold insisting that the seats at Stratford must be as close to the pitch as those at the Boleyn Ground.

Speaking in a 2012 interview with the BBC's Late Kick Off show, Gold answered fans' fears of being seated behind a running track by insisting that they would be no further away from the pitch than was the case at the club's former ground, which has since been bulldozed.

"There's no way we can go to the Olympic Stadium unless our seats are a similar distance [away from the pitch] as they are now," he told reporter Chris Slegg during a pitchside conversation.

"What is that?" Gold asked, whilst attempting to estimate the distance between pitch and the West Stand. "We can't be more than that." You may see the full video below.
