Reece Burke was able to call 'bragging rights' over fellow Hammer Robert Snodgrass this weekend - as Bolton beat Aston Villa in a vital Championship fixture.

Adam Le Fondre's 19th minute goal was enough to win the game for the hosts at the Macron Stadium and put a stick in the spokes of Villa's promotion chase, in a match described by some Bolton fans as their best performance of the season so far.

The result saw Villa - with whom Scottish international Snodgrass is spending the season - drop below Fulham to fourth, leaving them seven points adrift of the automatic promotion zone with just eight leaguie games left to play.

Meanwhile the three points are a major boost to Burke and the Trotters, who moved six points clear of the relegation zone as a result of the narrow victory.

* In other loanee news, Toni Martinez played for the first time in nearly three weeks as he came off the bench to help Real Valladolid to a 2-1 win in their Segunda Division clash with Almeria at the Jose Zorrilla stadium.

It was only the third appearance by the 20-year-old striker since he joined the Spanish club oin loan back in January. Valladolid climbed to 9th in the table as a result of the narrow win, keeping them in touch with the play off places.
