Ryan Fredericks has revealed how new Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini told him to look forward to West Ham enjoying a far more successful season.

It wasn't until late April in the 2017/18 campaign that the Hammers finally shook off the threat of relegation. And that is in stark contrast to Fredericks' campaign, which ended with him winning promotion to the Premier League via the play offs as a Fulham player.

Earlier this week however the former Tottenham youth product make the switch from Fulham to West Ham, following which he enjoyed a brief conversation with new manager Pellegrini.

"“Everyone knows his CV and what he has done in England before and other leagues as well," the right back told whufc.com. "I’m sure I can learn a lot from him.

"I’ve spoken to him and he doesn’t think what happened last year with the club will happen again. He’s a very positive man and his record speaks for itself. He’s very positive that the club are going to be at the right end of the table this season."

Fredericks also revealed that he is looking forward to learning from the experienced Pablo Zabaleta, whose place in the team he will be attempting to take. “It will be nice to speak to him," he added. "I’m sure I can pick up certain things from him and learn things to add to my game as well.

"No matter where you go, there’s going to be players fighting for positions. That’s what you need as it brings out the best in players - especially a player like Pablo, who has been in the Premier League for years and has pretty much done everything there is to do."
