Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen on signing West Ham's experienced Italian international, Angelo Ogbonna.

According to reports emanating from Italy on Tuesday, the Serie A side are preparing to move for the 30-year-old who has been at West Ham for the last three years whilst making 13 appearances for Italy.

Napoli Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli is reported to have spoken with West Ham already, although West Ham will be reluctant to sell despite having an excess of central defenders currently available at the club.

Reece Oxford, Declan Rice, Winston Reid, Issa Diop and impending arrival Fabian Balbuena are all set to fight Ogbonna for the two or three available first team spots next season.

The 24-year-old - yet another defender - is said by Sky Sports to have been the subject of West Ham's latest big-money bid, albeit in an area of the team where the club are already well-stocked.

The Magpies are said to have rejected the bid - of ?20million up front plus ?5million in add-ons - immediately, and have told West Ham that the Derby-born youngster is not for sale at any cost.

However the 26-year-old Ivorian has asked for time to consider the agreement; it is believed he would prefer a move elsewhere in London; Chelsea are also reported to have expressed interest in recent weeks.
