Lukasz Fabianski became the first Polish football to represent West Ham United in a competitive fixture at Anfield on Sunday.

Although he experienced a baptism of fire, the former Swansea stopper - signed from the South Wales club for £7million during the summer - became West Ham's first ever Pole when ousting Adrian from the number one jersey for the opening day of the season.

Meanwhile central defender Fabian Balbuena became only the second Paraguayan to represent the club, following in the footsteps of Brian Montenegro who made just one solitary first team appearance as a 78th minute substiture in a 2012 FA Cup tie at Sheffield Wednesday.

Elsewhere Andriy Yarmolenko became West Ham's second Ukrainian and the first to represent the club in the Prmier League, some 14 years after his predecessor Sergei Rebrov made 32 appearances for United during the 2004/05 Championship season.

Meanwhile Felipe Anderson, who also made his debut against Liverpool becomes West Ham's third Brazilian player, behind former forwards Ilan (11 appearances in 2010) and Nene (8 substitute appearances in 2015).
