Silva nominated for PL award

The majority of West Ham's summer signings may have experienced a torrid time since arriving at the club this summer.

However there was good news for Portuguese striker Xande Silva, who has been nominated for the PL2 Player of the Month award.

The 21-year-old striker, who poened his Hammers account with a match-winning hat-trick against Tottenham last month is one of nine players nominated for this month's gong.

The other contenders being Aaron Connolly (Brighton), Victor Gyokeres (Brighton), Tariq Lamptey (Chelsea), Layton Ndukwu (Leicester), Nabil Touaizi Zoubdi (Manchester City), Angel Gomes (Manchester United), Danny Loader (Reading) and Luke Molyneux (Sunderland).

The winner of this month's award will be announced by the Premier League next Monday (10 September).
