Marko Arnautovic should be training with the first team again as early as next week, according to Manuel Pellegrini.

The Austrian international, sidelined since sustaining a hamstring injury against Cardiff at the beginning of December was expected to be out of action until the beginning of January.

However Pellegrini, speaking to the accredited media at Rush Green this morning revealed that Arnautovic should be back in training by next week, a little earlier than initially expected.

"I think, next week, he will be back working with the team," said the manager. "When you don't have those players, you have a squad. I am happy with the options I've had without Marko. I'm not happy with Marko's injury, but I'm happy with my squad."

And that squad is likely to be unchanged when the Hammers face Watford this weekend, with no fresh injury concerns for Pellegrini and his team to contend with - although the news regarding Jack Wilshere wasn't particularly encouraging.

"We are exactly the same," he added. "Lucas Perez is in the squad. All the other players continue with their injuries; Frederick, Lanzini, Wilshere and Yarmolenko. We don't know if Wilshere needs surgery. We need to wait for his medical examination. We cannot be sure just yet."
