Bologna are understood to be considering a move for West Ham central defender Angelo Ogbonna.

The Italian international has been linked with a return to this home country on several occasions since moving to London and it looks like the current transfer window is unlikely to be any different, following news of the Serie A side's interest.

Ogbonna has spent much of this season on the bench at West Ham, being behind summer signings Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena in the central defensive pecking order. However a recent injury to Balbuena has afforded the 30-year-old an extended spell in the starting XI.

I Rossoblu, who are currently managed by Filippo Inzaghi sit 18th in Serie A at present having won just two of their opening 19 league games of the season. Just Frosinone and Chievo sit below them in the Italian top flight currently.

* In other transfer news, the Daily Mail have linked West Ham with a move for Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

The 28-year-old, who is most well-known by Hammers fans for being the player responsible for causing a serious injury to Dimitri Payet back in 2015 has 18 months remaining on his current contract at Goodison Park but is available for transfer, despite costing the Toffees £13million five years ago.
