West Ham are understood to have pulled out of the race to sign Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi due to the striker's excessive financial demands.

The Hammers entered preliminary talks with representatives of the Belgian international after agreeing loan terms with his current parent club, Chelsea.

However West Ham are understood to have politely declined to proceed with negotiations after being informed that Batshuayi was seeking an astonishing £170,000 per week for a four-month loan spell.

Batshuayi became available once again during the current transfer window having agreed to prematurely end his season-long loan spell with Spanish side Valencia.

However it now appears that he will now be spending the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign without a club having priced himself out of moves to either West Ham or Real Betis, who are also reported to have agreed terms with Chelsea.
