Midfielder Samir Nasri is unlikely to be available for selection when West Ham face Everton at the Olympic Stadium this Saturday evening.

The former French international returned from injury at the end of February but made just three appearances before once again succumbing to injury - as confirmed by manager Manuel Pellegrini.

"Samir had a problem in his calf this week so maybe he will not be able to play," the boss said during his pre-match press conference on Thursday. "We will see and decide the squad soon."

In other injury news, Andy Carroll's chances of ever featuring for West Ham again appear to be narrowing.

The big striker, who is out of contract at the end of the current season is currently battling against what has been described by Pellegrini and the club as an ankle injury. And according to the manager, he is no closer to securing a return to action.

"Andy Carroll is doing a lot of different medical tests to decide what we must do with his ankle," he said. "We will know more about his injury when we finish doing all the different examinations."

West Ham face Everton at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday at 5.30pm.
