One of the exciting young players on West Ham's summer transfer hit list says he will be leaving his current club before the start of next season.

Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos was recently informed by Zinedine Zidane that he has no future at the Bernebeu Stadium, despite being contracted to the club until 2023.

And the 22-year-old has confirmed that he intends to leave Madrid this summer - but only on his own terms.

"I'm not going to say what was said [when I spoke with Zidane]," said Ceballos in an interview with El Transistor, "but it was very clear and when I finish the European Championship I will decide my future.

"If I leave Real Madrid, I want to play in a team where I feel important. I want to show that I can play in any squad in Europe."

West Ham's interest was piqued when the six-times-capped Ceballos was made surplus to requirements, but any potential deal is some considerable way off at present.

The player, who has made 56 appearances for Madrid since moving from Real Betis in 2017 in an €18million switch is rated around the £20million by his current club.
